What You'll Do:

We’re looking for a Senior Portfolio Analyst to join our Target Date team at Principal Asset Management. In this role, you’ll provide relative asset class research and make recommendations to improve multi-asset class strategy performance!

  • Develop and enhance relative asset class research and provide asset allocation recommendations to the portfolio management team
  • Develop and enhance capital market forecasts that inform asset allocation decisions and multi-asset class portfolio construction as it relates to Target Date strategies
  • Monitor and analyze market trends, economic developments, and geopolitical shocks to make informed investment decisions
  • Communicate complex investment concepts and strategies to portfolio managers and stakeholders

Who You Are:
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree with an emphasis in finance, economics, accounting, or a technical field
  • 8+ years of relative asset class modeling and asset allocation recommendations
  • General knowledge and understanding of investment vehicles, economic and investment theories, the investment environment, retirement investing, and Principal Global Investors' network of specialized investment groups and affiliate product offerings
  • A proven track record of strong analytical and research skills as it relates to relative asset class modeling and market research

Skills That Will Help You Stand Out

  • CFA designation
  • Experience with Morningstar, Bloomberg, FactSet, Macrobond, Barra and performance attribution/risk decomposition tools
  • Financial modeling experience that includes Excel, Python, or other coding tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively research, compile and analyze information
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently in a non-structured environment, and drive results
Salary Range Information: Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salary Range: $153000 - $207000 / year Time Off Program: Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness.
