Project Overview:

Thacker Pass is the largest known lithium resource in the United States. Once complete, the mine and processing facilities will produce more lithium carbonate than any other facility in the United States. As the EPCM contractor for Lithium Americas, Bechtel is responsible for managing and integrating the efforts of a team of contractors engineering and building the facility. The project is in the high desert and wide-open spaces of north-central Nevada about 25 miles from the Oregon border, 1 hour northwest of Winnemucca, Nevada and 3 hours northeast of Reno

Job Summary:

In this role, you will provide project field engineering support with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover. Your work will contribute to ensuring field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. #LI-NP1

Major Responsibilities:

Work Planning & Packaging 

• Coordinates the preparation of construction drawings, sketches, projections and schedules for workforce, material, and equipment requirements 
• Contributes in planning construction methods and procedures.

Material Management 

• Initiates requisitions for field purchases 
• Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment. 

Quantities 

• Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.

Safety / Quality Control 

• Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely. 

Technical

• Proactively considers continuous learning or show interest to pursue appropriate learning activities 
• Supports construction engineers, discipline superintendents, foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents 

System Turnover Coordinator

For Direct Hire:

• Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development. 
• Builds system and area turnover packages both digitally and physically for turnover to startup and client. 

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Requires a University Hire with 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• B.S degree in Mechanical Engineering is desired but may be waived if equivalent industry experience can be demonstrated.
• 1-2 years minimum field engineering experience.
• Experience with Bechtel direct hire craft preferred
• Contract management experience preferred
• Understanding of applicable Bechtel work processes including Standard Work Process Procedures is preferred.
• Experience in mining and metals is preferred
• Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs) including ACONEX, TEAMWorks, Bechtel Productivity System, PTR, eSub and other automation tools which are used on Bechtel projects is an asset.
• Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
• Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving ability
