Medical Technologist III – Transfusion
Shift: Day | Hours: 6:00am – 2:30pm, Monday – Friday
Location: Cary, NC
Compensation: $28-$35/hour
Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Medical Technologist III – Transfusion to join our team. In this role, you will perform both routine and specialized laboratory testing to support the accurate diagnosis and treatment of patients. Using independent judgment within established protocols, you will evaluate and report patient results while ensuring the highest standards of accuracy, quality, and compliance.
As a senior-level technologist, you will take on advanced responsibilities, including developing and implementing new procedures, instrumentation, and computer applications. You will oversee major laboratory functions or projects such as quality control, safety, regulatory compliance, staff development, or performance improvement. This position also serves as a technical expert and resource within the transfusion service, providing mentorship, training, and guidance to less experienced staff while assisting supervisors with report reviews, quality documentation, and regulatory readiness.
The Medical Technologist III will also play a vital role in maintaining proficiency testing, updating and reviewing departmental procedure manuals, and ensuring all technical and regulatory standards are consistently met.
Qualifications:
Licensure/Certification:
American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification required, OR
National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCA) certification required
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, or
Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science required
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Medical Technologist in a clinical laboratory required
Strong background in transfusion medicine preferred
